![]() ![]() Many traits grant a new type of bonus: a “trait” bonus. Alternatively, if you’ve already got a background in your head or written down for your character, you can view picking his traits as a way to quantify that background, just as picking race and class and ability scores quantifies his other strengths and weaknesses. Think of character traits as “story seeds” for your background after you pick your two traits, you’ll have a point of inspiration from which to build your character’s personality and history. Yet a character trait isn’t just another kind of power you can add on to your character-it’s a way to quantify (and encourage) building a character background that fits into your campaign world. (Personally, I'd probably let it work, and make something up about how a bonus is a sub-set of modifier, so all bonuses are also modifiers, but not all modifiers are bonuses - at least until a FAQ or dev statement or better argument gets presented) ![]() Putting Dex bonus in place of Str bonus is still in question, and PFS should probably issue a FAQ on that since it keeps coming up. So, assuming the intent is to apply Strength mod to two-hander damage except when a strength bonus is present (in which case apply 1.5x Str) then the intent should also be to apply Dexterity mod to two-hander damage in place of Strength mod, and any any PFS GM should feel comfortable ruling it that way. That's almost certainly not intended to actually work that way, as that means Strength penalties don't apply at all with two-handed weapons, and if that was the case, they wouldn't need to have said "Strength penalties are not multiplied" because they wouldn't be applied at all. Apply 1-1/2 times the character's Strength bonus to damage rolls for melee attacks with such a weapon. Two-Handed: Two hands are required to use a two-handed melee weapon effectively. Except you don't use your Strength modifier with a two-handed weapon, you use your Strength bonus. ![]()
